I'm Your Favorite!

I just want to thank everyone who made me a favorite this past month. Currently 49.2% of unique visitors to my website make karlrothenberger.com one of their favorites! I will try and make it worth your wild to visit my site with frequent updates from NY Fashion week, and a soon to be editorial section. I will also be testing more and experimenting with post production to keep things interesting. Hey, I can't let down those 49.2% now can I.

Fashion Week Down Under

Turns out the Australian fashion magazine Oyster will be publishing my images from NY Fashion Week. So look for a certain Aussie influence this year. Did someone say after party at Bondi Road? Cheers mate!

Vegas Baby, Vegas!

Upon further reflection last evening, I realized my true calling is professional gambler. Now photography is great, don't get me wrong, but it seems like I have a good knack for picking football with the point spread. Lets consider last week, if I would have put $ on the games I would of went 4 for 4. And this past weekend I went oppo to all the 'experts' and picked the Bears and the Colts. Thats 6 for 6! Maybe thats my gift. Who knew? Maybe its the fact that my friends and I used to gamble in grade-school and high-school, so maybe its nurture as opposed to nature, but 6 for 6 in tight playoff games is saying something. . . . Maybe it's saying that I spend too much time watching football.

Embracing Change

Photographers use film. Not anymore. I can honestly say I don't know a single photographer that uses film. You can even buy digital throw-away cameras at Walgreens now. I may be dating myself with this statement but I actually used film when I began shooting 5 years ago. In such a short period of time I had to change the whole way I thought about shooting and completely overhaul the equipment I used and how I thought about creating images. I was reluctant at first, but upon a recent trip to the Cooper Hewitt museum here in NYC that reluctance changed to embrace. The exhibition presented the Best in Design over the past 3 years. Most all of the designs that were on exhibit there utilized computers in their creation, even to the point of having computer software actually create the art with no human interaction whatsoever. (processing.org). Now, I will still be behind the camera on all of my shoots, but you will begin to see more computer enhanced images as the weeks and months progress. (See Alona below)

The Days of My Youth

I passed this bridge every single day of High School. When I saved up enough money to buy a camera I photographed it. It is by far my favorie bridge in Chicago and I hope you enjoy it too.

Bridges?

Yes bridges. Anyone who knows me understands that my interests vary. Among them are bridges. I'm not sure exactly why but I find them fascinating. Don't you?. . . . . Probably not. But since I'm from the city of Chicago which has more suspension bridges than any other city in the world, (fact. look it up) I enjoy the occasional bridge and every once in a while I photograph them. Here are a couple intentionally blurred images of bridges I took while in DUMBO Brooklyn.
