G N R

I was rockin' out in my room this morning. I was having trouble coming up with the look for one of my shots from this magazine shoot. A little air guitar to "sweet child o' mine" and 3 cups of coffee later and I think I found my answer. . . . . . . thank god my blinds were closed, otherwise that would have been really embarrassing. I sure hope no one finds out about it.

Smoke Em If You Got Em!

So I was faced with a dilemma this evening as I went to meet a friend for coffee. A woman was walking down Park Ave and dropped her pack of cigarettes. Now I started to tell her that she dropped something, then I realized they were cigarettes and hesitated. I thought for a second that I would be doing her a favor if I just let them lay on the ground. However, I realized quickly that she would just go and buy more so I picked them up for her and handed them over. So, is it a good thing that I gave them back or a bad thing that I am contributing to her eminent lung disease. Hell, I just wanted to grab a vanilla latte, I didn't think the trip would end up as a point of serious reflection?

Vilita

Vilita was the Supermodel winner from Lithuania. She photographs amazingly, and here is what I mean by that. Her face has a bone structure that just seems to attract light perfectly. She also has a great attitude and fun personality, which I have learned, through all this recent shooting, is so much more important for a great photograph than just being beautiful.

It's Been Awhile. . . . . .

I never realized how many people regularly check my blog! So you can stop with all the hate mail, I will start posting regular updates now that my schedule is back on track. I shot Piveta from Supreme for a magazine editorial. The shoot featured clothes from designers like A La Disposition and some amazing hats by Ryan Wilde NYC. Now the fun part begins, piecing all the images together for a cohesive story. Here are a couple samples from the shoot so you get an idea of where it might be headed. I will be spending the next few days editing this shoot as well as a shoot I did yesterday. I will post samples from that shoot tomorrow.

Mental Note, Keep Eyes Open When Walking

Not the most flattering photo but whattya gonna do?! Thanks Elle.com.

Natasha In The Rain

Our crazy weather sometimes can be a blessing. Take yesterday for example. I was scheduled to shoot Natasha, the Russian winner of the Ford Supermodel of the World contest. (It's funny, when I attended the contest, I said that she would be the one I would want to shoot, turns out, they asked me to shoot her!) Anyway, the weather was funky. Warm with occasional rain showers, but I wanted to get out from shooting in my room and venture out onto the roof for a change. This was the result. That pink dress and leather jacket? Genius! Also, the tulle from my trip to Mood Fabrics, ala Project Runway, added some nice texture to my background. Thanks to Julie for the kick ass styling, and Cyndie for the flawless make-up! . . . . . oh, and Tortilla Flats for the Margaritas!!!

Who Dat?!

During rehearsal at Rad Hourani. Credit models.com for capturing my best side.

Website Update

I finally got around to updating my official site with backstage images from Fashion Week, so feel free and check it out! I still haven't gone through the bulk of them so I'm sure I will be adding to the collection as time goes by. I was very pleased with the results this season! I didn't shoot that many shows backstage, I picked those that I thought would translate well into a nice cohesive group. I wanted the collections to be avant guard and very NY, so you will see collections by designers such as Kai Kuhne, Three As Four, Benjamin Cho, Rad Hourani, and Michael Angel among others. My goal now is to pitch this collection as a magazine editorial, so that is what I will be working on in the coming week, along with another 2 shoots for Ford and a magazine spec. The good news is my cold is gone, the bad news is I haven't shaved in a few weeks and I look like Grisly Adams.

Reaction To Congress via Mike and The Mad Dog

I've become addicted to Mike and The Mad Dog. Especially on days where I'm stuck in front of the computer all day editing images from Fashion Week, it helps pass the time. There were some vintage moments yesterday as they ripped into Congress attempting to hold a hearing on steroids in baseball. Above is the only clip I could find from the afternoon. How they can do this show for 5 1/2 hours a day is beyond me. Yesterday was a classic.

More Martha (cough, cough). . . .

Well, I officially caught a cold from Fashion Week. Close quarters and strangers from foreign lands, I'm just lucky I didn't get malaria. Well, it's not like I don't have enough computer work to keep me busy. Speaking of which, here are the other looks from Martha's shoot yesterday.

Martha

"She could be the sweetest girl I have ever met". That's what I told her booker yesterday after I shot Martha. I also enjoyed the fact that I was part of her first snow experience, "It is so beautiful.", she told my stylist in a soft Brazilian accent. Here are 2 of the looks from yesterday. More to come.

Shameless Self Promotion

I just had to take a picture of my picture of Christina. I talked to her backstage and she said that the card seen above got her twice as many shows this season in NY as compared to last season! I'll take that as a compliment. . . . . although I'm sure she probably had something to do with it.

Backstage at Kai Kuhne

Do I Look THAT Exhausted?!

One more day of shooting ahead of me. I think I'm in need of some well deserved time off. I took a cab from the Kai Kuhne show back home, and the cab driver offered me something to eat. Now when has that ever happened?! I must have looked totally exhausted. Well, tomorrow there are only a couple shows then I get a day off before I have to shot two girls from Ford on Sunday. All my efforts must be paying off because people are talking, (at least one person anyway). You can check out what an English blog has to say about some of my backstage shots here (even though they misspelled my name and made me Jewish). . . . . . . . (I must not look that bad, my roommate Michelle's sister thought I was a model when Michelle told her I was busy with Fashion Week. Must be because I lost so much weight, one whole belt loop since the beginning of the week.

Michael Angel

I decided to shoot this show after I saw the designers website. Cool colors and flowing shapes, it looked like it would be a fun show to shoot backstage, and turns out, it was!

Three As Four

Here are a couple quick ones from the Three As Four show this evening. It was nice to see my stylist Julie and her friend Lauren at the show.
